We’re expecting to see a retractable rear spoiler for balancing downforce and top speed. Inside, the seatbacks will likely be integrated into the monocoque. In the performance department, the upcoming halo car will reportedly use a new Ricardo-supplied V8 paired with a hybrid. The full engine specs have yet to be known, but it is expected to churn out more than 1,000 horsepower, including the hybrid element. This hybrid element will reportedly be 70% lighter than that in the Artura. Putting the power down to the road will be 3D-printed suspension components.

McLaren previously told CarBuzz that the P1 successor would not arrive before this year: “We have previously said that there will be a successor to the P1, but can’t give any specific details beyond [that] it will not be before 2024 at the earliest.” The McLaren P18 will succeed the P1 at the top of the brand’s Ultimate Series lineup. Ferrari will rival the P18 with a LaFerrari successor expected to run a hybrid powertrain with over a thousand horses, too. Meanwhile, Porsche is expected to join the hypercar slugfest with a 918 Spyder successor previewed by the Mission X concept.
